Meeting Link Surfacer is a free Chrome extension that shows a Join chip in the corner of Google Calendar about ten minutes before a call starts, with the Zoom, Meet or Teams link already found. It reads events rendered on the Calendar page, needs no Calendar API or account linking, and stays completely silent for events with no video link.
Why it does not copy the link automatically
The obvious version of this tool copies the link to your clipboard the moment it finds one. This does not, on purpose.
Silently replacing whatever you had on your clipboard takes something from you without asking, and you could easily lose something you were part way through pasting. That is the opposite of a tool that minds its own business. Browsers also block clipboard writes not tied to a user gesture, so an automatic copy would be unreliable as well as rude.
The chip joins on click, and has a Copy button for when you actually want the link.
Edge cases it handles
Several links in one invite. Platforms are ranked, so a Zoom or Meet link beats a dial-in number, an agenda doc or a "manage this event" calendar link.
Recurring events. Identity includes the start time, so Tuesday's standup is a different occurrence from Monday's. Dismissing one does not silence the series.
Back to back meetings. The chip always shows the soonest eligible meeting. The moment the first passes its grace period and the second enters its window, it hands over by itself rather than going stale.
Deliberately not a meeting assistant
No transcription, no note taking, no summaries. There are plenty of AI meeting assistants and this is not one of them. It retrieves a link and gets out of the way.
Permissions
Google Calendar only, plus local storage. It reads events already rendered on the Calendar page. No Calendar API, no account linking, no network requests. The only thing stored is which chips you dismissed, for three days.
Install it
About a minute, no account, no configuration.
01
Download the .zip and unzip it wherever you keep things.
02
Open chrome://extensions in your browser.
03
Switch on Developer mode, top right of that page.
04
Click Load unpacked and pick the unzipped folder.
05
Reload the page you want it on. That is the whole setup.
Questions about Meeting Link Surfacer
Does it copy the link to my clipboard automatically?
No, by design. Overwriting your clipboard without asking could lose something you were about to paste. Press Copy when you want the link, or Join to open it directly.
Does it work if I do not have Calendar open?
No. It reads events rendered on the Google Calendar page, so it needs a Calendar tab. If you keep Calendar pinned, which most heavy users do, that is automatic.
What about recurring meetings?
Every occurrence is treated separately, so it appears for each one and dismissing today does not silence tomorrow.
Which platforms does it recognise?
Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Whereby, Jitsi, GoTo Meeting, BlueJeans, Around, Slack huddles and Discord.
The rest of the catalog
Attachment Reminder
Watches your compose window for attachment wording and stops the send if no file is attached.
Clean Copy
Right-click any link and copy it without utm_source, fbclid, gclid and the rest.
Timezone Peek
Highlight "3pm ET" anywhere and see it in your timezone. Silent on times with no zone.
Draft Rescue
Keeps a local copy of what you type, so a crash or a stray back button does not lose it.
Link Destination Check
Warns when link text names one site and the link goes to another. Quiet on ordinary links.
Draft Rot Tracker
Marks Gmail drafts that have sat unsent, once a day at most, with snooze and ignore.
Cancel-By Reminder
Finds trial end and renewal dates in emails you open, and reminds you before they land.
